Both vertical arms have been constructed, the longer being 9 feet long and is shown below:

Vertical arm
Visible in the above picture are the bearing boxes for 16 four inch
diameter aluminium pulleys which allow the main bucket-wheel arm to be
raised and lowered by cables onto 2 winding drums at the far end of the
counter-balance arm (which has yet to be built). |
